The incumbent will report directly to the Chief of Unit, Movement Control or their designate. This post includes delegated supervisory responsibilities and requires readiness to assume Detachment Officer-in-Charge (OIC) functions when designated. Responsibilities Within delegated authority, the Movement Control Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: - Assist in developing passenger and cargo load plans in coordination with JMCC and IDC.
- Coordinate daily operations and to task the staff to ensure that plans, schedules, instructions, regulations, safety and security measures are enforced.
- Ensure that dangerous goods are transported in accordance with applicable international Dangerous Goods Regulations.
- Coordinate shipments including customs clearance, specifying carriers, routes of movement, transit times, and service levels.
- Liaise with Mombasa seaport and Entebbe airport authorities, shipping lines, airlines, freight forwarders, and local authorities responsible for travel-related, immigration, air freight, sea freight and customs issues.
- Assist with the planning and execution of military and police contingent movements.
- Liaise and coordinate with contingent/police personnel and RSCE counterparts for military and police contingent movements.
- Coordinate the daily flight schedule with Air Operations to meet passenger and cargo requirements, including non-scheduled flights, strive to accommodate last minute changes.
- Prepare operational reports and related statistical data.
- Organize and coordinate VIP movements.
- Liaise with the Ground Handling Agent. Task, coordinate and monitor the ground handling services.
- Maintain contact with other UN Agencies, NGOs and Government Offices in regard to their travel requirements on Mission air assists.
- Provide multi-modal movement control support to all Mission cargo movements.
- ensure accuracy of documentation and support lost/misplaced baggage and/or cargo tracking.
- Organize and supervise MOVCON Warehouse operations.
- Perform other duties as required.
