Key Activities and Responsibilities - Conduct antenatal assessments and provide appropriate maternal health education.
- Monitor pregnant women and identify potential complications.
- Provide care and support during labour and delivery.
- Monitor maternal and fetal wellbeing during labour.
- Assist with normal deliveries in accordance with professional standards.
- Recognise and promptly escalate obstetric emergencies.
- Provide immediate newborn care and assess the condition of the newborn.
- Support breastfeeding and maternal-infant bonding.
- Provide postnatal care to mothers and newborns.
- Administer prescribed medicines and treatments.
- Maintain accurate maternity and patient records.
- Provide family planning and reproductive health education.
- Promote infection prevention and control.
- Participate in emergency obstetric and neonatal care.
- Provide compassionate care while respecting patients' dignity, privacy, culture, and choices.
- Participate in clinical handovers and multidisciplinary teamwork.
Qualifications and Experience - Recognised professional qualification in Midwifery.
- Registration with the appropriate professional regulatory body.
- Valid practising licence.
- Relevant clinical experience is an advantage.
