The role emphasizes patient education, maternal health monitoring, and coordination with medical officers and imaging technologists. Key Responsibilities: Antenatal Care: - Conduct antenatal assessments, including history taking, physical examinations, and monitoring of maternal and fetal well-being.
- Order and interpret routine obstetric imaging (ultrasound) in collaboration with radiologists and imaging technologists.
- Provide health education on nutrition, breastfeeding, family planning, and danger signs during pregnancy.
Patient Support & Coordination: - Prepare and support women undergoing obstetric ultrasound examinations.
- Coordinate care between midwifery services, medical officers, and imaging staff.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, including antenatal cards and clinical notes.
Postnatal & Family Planning: - Provide postnatal assessments and support for mothers and newborns.
- Offer family planning counseling and services as per national guidelines.
- Educate patients on postpartum recovery, infant care, and immunization schedules.
Qualifications & Experience: - Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Midwifery from a recognized institution.
- Registered with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC) with a valid practicing license.
- Minimum 2 years of clinical midwifery experience, including antenatal and postnatal care.
- Experience in obstetric ultrasound support or interpretation is an advantage.
Competencies: - Strong clinical skills in maternal and newborn care.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach.
- Excellent communication and counseling skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
