The role involves close monitoring, prompt intervention, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, and adherence to established critical care protocols to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Clinical Care - Provide continuous medical care to critically ill patients in the ICU
- Perform initial assessment, ongoing evaluation, and daily management of ICU patients
- Initiate and manage life-saving interventions, including airway management, ventilation, and hemodynamic support
- Interpret clinical data, laboratory results, imaging, and bedside monitoring.
Patient monitoring and documentation - Conduct regular patient rounds and update treatment plans
- Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive medical records
- Document clinical progress, procedures, and treatment decisions
Emergency response - Respond promptly to medical emergencies and cardiac arrests.
- Participate in resuscitation efforts following ACLS/BLS protocols
- Escalate care to senior physicians or consultants when necessary.
Infection control and safety - Adhere strictly to infection control policies and ICU safety protocols
- Promote patient safety and quality improvement initiatives
- Follow hospital policies, ethical standards, and legal requirements.
Requirements - A medical degree from a recognized and reputable institution, an Annual Practicing License and a Registration Certificate.
- Registration as a medical practitioner or eligible for registration with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitionersâ Council.
- At least one year of professional experience in working in ICU.
- Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
