JOB TITLE : Medical Consultant (Physician)
RANK : Deputy Director
REPORTS TO : Director Medical Services Department
SUPERVISES : Medical Officer (Special Grade)
PURPOSE:
To provide specialist medical care and medical oversight in promoting the health and wellbeing of Bank staff and eligible dependants through quality preventive, curative and emergency healthcare services in line with professional medical standards. Bank policies, and applicable health regulations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Give medical consultation services to all Bank patients and eligible dependants, diagnosing, giving treatment, and managing medical conditions and emergency cases.
Give medical education, explain tests and procedures to patients.
Plan, coordinate and follow up referrals of patients and emergency cases.
Provide input into the evaluation and selection of medical service providers.
Refer patients to hospitals and other specialized facilities when required.
Participate in medical activities at the Bank branches.
Provide counselling and health education to Bank staff and eligible dependants.
Provide input in the development of training programs for continuous professional development of medical staff.
Promote disease prevention and participate in employee wellness programs.
Provide input in defining specifications in procurement of medical equipment, drugs and sundries.
Supervise, coach, mentor, appraise and ensure adherence to Codes of Conduct and Ethics by staff in the Department Participate in the development of Departmental Annual Workplans and Budget.
Perform other duties as shall be assigned by the Director Medical Services.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
A. QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from an accredited institution.
Master's Degree in Internal Medicine.
Membership with Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners' Council.
Annual Practising License.
Post-graduate training in Leadership or Management is an added advantage.
B. EXPERIENCE
Minimum of ten (10) years' experience as a Medical Practitioner, five (5) of which should have been at a Specialist Level in a reputable hospital, Medical Institution or Corporate healthcare setting.
C. AGE
Applicants must be between 40 and 50.0 years Old as at the last day of the advertisement

Knowledge of health laws and standard medical practices and procedures; and pharmacy policy and legislative requirements.
Demonstrated experience in providing evidence based medical services.
