About the Company:
Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) is a statutory organization established by Uganda Tourism Board Statute of 1994 and reconstituted in the Tourism Act 2008 with the following Statutory Objectives:
- To promote and contribute to the Development of Tourism sector both within and outside of Uganda.
- To coordinate with the Ministry responsible for Tourism and the private sector in the implementation of the National Tourism policy.
- To carry out any other activities as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the two objectives specified above.
Job Summary:   Oversee the development and implementation of Uganda’s tourism marketing strategy and destination Uganda brand manual in order to position Uganda as a tourism destination of choice in the world.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and coordinate the implementation of destination Uganda marketing strategy
- Oversee the implementation and review of the destination brand strategy
- Coordinate the development and implementation of advertising campaigns and activations in the domestic, regional, and international markets
- Monitor marketing trends and conduct competitor analysis, collect and analyse data to maintain competitive advantage
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Mass Communication, Economics, Commerce, Business Administration, Tourism and Hospitality or other relevant degree from a reputable university.
- Master’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Economics, Business Administration, Tourism and Hospitality or Marketing
- Professional marketing qualification as an added advantage such as the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) or any other relevant professional qualification.
- 10 years’ experience with 5years in a senior management position in a reputable, large organization.
Skills
- Excellent project management skills
- Proven ability to develop marketing strategies and market intelligence briefs.
- Ability to examine and study a target audience/ market segment to gather insights that inform the board’s marketing strategy and products
- Ability to direct and guide marketing decisions with budgetary analysis
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills
- Excellent leadership skills.
