Job Description/Requirements About Ashinaga Uganda: Ashinaga is a Japanese non-profit organization that provides educational and psychosocial support to young people who have experienced the loss of one or both parents. Over the past 50 years, Ashinaga has raised over $1bn, enabling more than 110,000 orphaned students to complete higher education in Japan. In 2001, Ashinaga expanded beyond Japan and now supports a global community of disadvantaged young people, focusing on Sub-Saharan Africa. Ashinaga has offices in Uganda, Senegal, the United States, the United Kingdom, Brazil, and France, supporting over 300 orphaned students from Sub-Saharan Africa to study at universities in Japan, Europe, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Brazil. Job Overview: The Marketing and Fundraising Coordinator/Manager is responsible for developing and implementing marketing and fundraising strategies to support Ashinaga Uganda's mission. The role involves identifying funding opportunities, managing donor relationships, developing promotional campaigns, and increasing awareness about Ashinaga Uganda’s programs. Key Responsibilities: 1. Fundraising Campaigns: - Design and implement successful fundraising campaigns tailored to the Ugandan context, focusing on increasing donations and supporter engagement.
- Develop, execute, and evaluate diverse fundraising initiatives, including direct appeals, events, and online campaigns, with measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor progress.
- Establish a strong case for support and create compelling narratives to attract new donors while retaining existing supporters.
- Oversee budgeting and forecasting for all fundraising campaigns, ensuring financial targets are met.
- Provide a detailed analysis of previous fundraising campaigns, including costs, returns, and lessons learned, to optimize future campaigns.
2. High Net Worth and Corporate Engagement: - Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) and key corporate stakeholders within Uganda, leveraging personal and organizational networks.
- Organize and attend meetings with C-suite and influential decision-makers to establish partnerships and secure sponsorships, building a robust network of supporters.
- Develop tailored proposals and presentations to attract significant contributions from HNWIs, ensuring alignment with Ashinaga Uganda's mission and objectives.
3. Marketing and Communications: - Develop and manage all social media campaigns across platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok, aiming to enhance Ashinaga Uganda’s visibility and engagement.
- Create and maintain a content calendar for consistent, impactful social media engagement and oversee all digital communications.
- Work closely with the Communications Team to ensure all promotional activities are consistent with Ashinaga Uganda’s values, brand guidelines, and goals.
4. Event Planning and Management: - Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events, both in-person and virtual, aimed at increasing donor engagement and raising funds.
- Ensure successful implementation of donor stewardship events, where high-profile supporters and potential donors can experience Ashinaga Uganda’s work firsthand.
- Work with key internal and external stakeholders to create memorable events that align with fundraising goals.
5. Monitoring and Reporting: - Maintain and manage donor databases to enhance donor experience and provide insightful reporting on fundraising performance.
- Prepare and present quarterly progress reports to senior management, highlighting campaign outcomes, donor engagement metrics, and financial performance.
- Track, analyze, and report on social media metrics to optimize digital marketing strategies.
- Create content for Ashinaga Uganda’s social media platforms, website, annual reports, and other special publications.
- Update photos and videos for different activities conducted during Ashinaga Uganda’s calendar events.
- Coordinate with Headquarters in terms of marketing and communication.
6. Strategic Planning and Partnerships: - Develop and implement Ashinaga Uganda’s annual fundraising and marketing strategy, in collaboration with the Country Director and the Head of Fundraising.
- Build and maintain partnerships with local and international corporations, NGOs, and community organizations that align with Ashinaga Uganda’s mission.
- Identify potential grant opportunities and oversee proposal development to secure institutional funding.
Qualifications and Competences: - Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Mass Communication, International Relations, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a fundraising and marketing role, preferably within non-profit organizations in Uganda.
- Proven experience in leading successful fundraising campaigns in Uganda. Please include details of the campaigns you have managed, including costs and returns, in your cover letter.
- Advanced competence in major social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter (X), Instagram, and LinkedIn).
- Demonstrable experience in engaging and building relationships with high-net-worth individuals and C-suite executives in the Ugandan business ecosystem.
- Strong skills in project management, networking, and relationship building.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proposal writing and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
