In order to meet the needs of its growing customer base, the company is seeking to recruit dynamic, self-motivated, result oriented professionals to fill the following position; MANAGER, MICRO AND SMALL BUSINESS This position reports to Head of Retail and will be based at the Head Office of the Bank. Role of the Job: The Manager â Micro and Small Business is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to drive sustainable growth and profitability of the micro and small business segment. The role focuses on portfolio growth, product development, sales enablement, risk management and ensuring the segment meets its overall financial and quality targets. Key Deliverables: - Develop and execute the micro and small business strategy and tactical business development plans in line with the Bankâs growth objectives and risk appetite.
- Grow the micro and small loans portfolio and deposits while maintaining a high-quality loan book.
- Participate in setting growth, quality and productivity targets and ensure timely communication of targets to the network.
- Select target markets and refine customer value propositions to enhance the Bankâs competitive position.
- Provide leadership and technical support to branches in building and managing micro and small business relationships.
- Develop work plans for branch visits, new business development, customer engagements and call reporting.
- Train and mentor relationship officers in credit underwriting, portfolio management and sales best practices.
- Ensure adherence to credit policies, lending standards and documentation requirements to safeguard portfolio quality.
- Regularly review portfolio performance, identify emerging risks and propose early remedial actions for problem accounts.
- Review market and industry trends and recommend improvements or changes to existing micro and small business products.
- Conduct regular customer visits to monitor performance of credit facilities and submit management reports on findings.
- Foster a service-driven sales culture to drive relationship management, customer retention and cross-selling.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment with overall business objectives and coordinated execution.
- Ensure compliance with CRB requirements and all applicable regulatory guidelines.
- Identify, manage and mitigate risks associated with the micro and small business segment.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department or Management.
Educational, Training and experience: - At least a university degree in a business-related field such as Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Social Sciences etc.
- Masterâs degree in business administration or in any of the above fields or a professional qualification such as ACCA is a strong added advantage.
- At least 3 years of experience in credit management at middle or senior level in a commercial bank
- Good at Product development and Management
- Strong as data analytics and MIS.
Financial Responsibility: - Manage the micro and small business budget.
- Deliver agreed financial targets including revenue growth, customer acquisition, product mix and balance sheet growth.
- Ensure effective cost control within approved budgets.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: - A university degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics or a related field.
- Masterâs degree or certified banking/professional qualification (e.g. ACCA) is an added advantage.
- At least 7 yearsâ banking experience, with a minimum of 4 years in relationship management or SME/Micro business banking.
- Proven experience in business development, product management and portfolio growth.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Competence in credit analysis, sales leadership, negotiation, customer relationship management and risk assessment.
