Purpose of the Job. The Manager, IT Operations and Data Centre Will be responsible for the management, supervision and maintenance of the all Data Centres and Disaster Recovery Site Infrastructure and Applications. Also, for ensuring the effective, reliable, secure, and efficient operation of the organizationâs IT infrastructure and data centre environments. The role oversees day-to-day IT operations, infrastructure management, systems availability, disaster recovery readiness, and service delivery excellence. The position ensures alignment with ICT strategies, operational standards, and regulatory requirements while supporting the organizationâs business continuity and technology performance needs. 2. Key Results Areas / Accountabilities. A. IT Operations Management. - Lead and manage daily IT operations to ensure optimal performance, availability, and reliability of systems and services.
- Monitor and maintain IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networks, Facilities, cooling, power and associated technologies.
- Develop and enforce operational policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Analyse operational issues and implement corrective and preventive solutions.
B. Data Centre Management. - Oversee the operation, maintenance, and optimisation of the organisationâs data centre(s).
- Ensure data centre environmental integrity, including power, cooling, physical security, and capacity planning.
- Coordinate data centre upgrades, equipment installations, and asset lifecycle management.
C. Service Delivery & Support. - Ensure high-quality IT service delivery in line with SLAs, KPIs, and client expectations.
- Oversee incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Drive continuous improvement in service operations and user experience.
D. Security, Compliance & Risk Management. - Implement and maintain data centre security standards, access controls, and monitoring systems.
- Ensure compliance with ICT governance frameworks, audit requirements, and regulatory obligations.
- Conduct risk assessments and support disaster recovery and business continuity initiatives.
E. Vendor & Stakeholder Management. - Manage relationships with IT vendors, service providers, and consultants.
- Negotiate and monitor vendor contracts, service agreements, and performance levels.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of IT operations with business needs.
F. Leadership & Team Management. - Lead, mentor, and develop the IT operations and data centre team.
- Oversee resource planning, workload allocation, and performance management.
- Foster a culture of operational excellence, accountability, and continuous learning.
3. Qualifications. - Bachelorâs degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Masterâs degree is an added advantage).
- Professional certifications in any virtualized platform
- Professional certification in any major cloud platform: AWS/Azure/GCP
- Certification in project management (PMP/PRINCE2)
4. Skills / Competencies. A. Technical Skills. - Strong knowledge of data centre operations, infrastructure management, and system administration.
- Proficiency in server technologies, storage solutions, virtualization, networks, and cloud/hybrid environments.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles, disaster recovery, and backup technologies.
- Experience with monitoring tools, automation, and IT service management (ITSM) platforms.
- Experience in Data centre environments, power, cooling and facilities management.

- Proven track record in IT service delivery, operational governance, and infrastructure projects.
