- Provide legal support to company projects and provide legal advice to all departments of the Company regarding the business operations and all other legal matters of the Company.
- Monitor litigation, attend court hearings, supervise external counsel and conduct case management.
- Coordinate the preparation, documentation, review and submission of periodic progress reports to relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the compliance function with the implementation and promotion of the Companyâs compliance work plan, including due diligence tasks.
- Participate in review and monitoring of CNOOCâs anti-corruption and bribery risk mapping and risk mitigation plan.
- Participate in compliance-related engagements with internal and external stakeholders
- Provide legal support to company projects and legal advice to all departments of the Company regarding the business operations, corporate compliance, and all other legal matters of the company.
- Draft, review, negotiate and advise on company commercial contracts, other relevant company documents and agreements required for conducting of company business.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: - Bachelorâs degree in Law.
- A Postgraduate diploma in Legal Practice and/or a related Masterâs degree is an added advantage.
- At least 5 years of related working experience, preferably in the Oil & Gas industry.
- Demonstrated experience in handling litigation/arbitration and dispute resolution.
- Experience in a compliance role in a regulated environment is an added advantage.
Knowledge: - Good knowledge of Ugandan laws, regulations and policies and understanding of Ugandaâs oil and gas industry.
- Knowledge of commercial contracts and petroleum contracts.
- Excellent logic and comprehension, excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Excellent critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving ability.
- Good command of both written and spoken English, excellent professional business writing skills.
- High ethical standards and integrity.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation and coordination skills

- Represent the company in meetings, negotiations, discussions and other dealings with regulators, government authorities and other third parties.
- Provide support to Land Acquisition activities including review of contractor agreements and reports, attend meetings and support dispute resolution.
