Role Overview
The Lead Credit Controller plays a crucial role in managing the financial relationships with our customers, ensuring timely payments and minimizing bad debt. This position involves proactive communication with customers and requires a blend of analytical skills and customer service expertise. Working closely with the Finance Manager, this role is integral to maintaining the financial health of the organization while promoting a positive customer experience.

Position Details
• Employment Type: Contract
• Location: Kampala / Hybrid Work Arrangement
• Reporting Structure: Reports to Finance Manager

Key Responsibilities
• Carry out debt collection and consistently meet and maintain collection targets, including a targeted number of effective calls per day.
• Record information about the financial status of customers and the status of collection efforts.
• Locate and notify customers of delinquent accounts via mail, telephone, or personal visits to solicit payment.
• Arrange for debt repayment or establish repayment schedules based on customers' financial situations.
• Maintain accurate individual records and performance statistics for the debtors in your portfolio.
• Handle disputed accounts by collecting relevant information to reconcile customer queries.
• Work closely with colleagues in service and sales to ensure effective coordination of collection activity.
• Anticipate developments and identify accounts that may require special attention, flagging them early.
• Persuade customers to pay amounts due or return merchandise as required.
• Maintain a realistically low incidence rate of bad debt in line with monthly targets.

Requirements
Essential Qualifications
• Education Requirements: Post-secondary Diploma in Finance or other related fields.
• Required Experience: 1-2 years in credit control or collections.
• Mandatory Skills: Active listening, speaking, social perceptiveness, persuasion, critical thinking.
• Required Technical Knowledge: Customer relationship management (CRM) software, specifically MS Excel and Word; document management software; office suite software; presentation software.
• Language Requirements: Proficiency in English, Luganda, and Swahili.

Preferred Qualifications
• Desired Additional Skills: Monitoring, service orientation, time management.
• Beneficial Experience: Exposure to retail or distribution environments.
• Preferred Certifications: Relevant certifications in finance or credit management.
• Additional Technical Knowledge: Understanding of administration and management principles.
