Job Summary
To ensure the effective collection, cleaning, sanitization, processing, storage, and distribution of hospital linen, patient garments, staff uniforms, and other hospital textiles while adhering to infection prevention and control standards. The Laundry Officer plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, hygienic, and comfortable healthcare environment for patients.
Job Details
Collect, sort, count, and record soiled linen and garments from hospital departments.
Operate washing machines, dryers, ironing equipment, and other laundry machinery safely and efficiently.
Wash, dry, iron, fold, and package hospital linen according to established procedures and infection control guidelines.
Segregate contaminated and non-contaminated linen in accordance with hospital infection prevention protocols.
Distribute clean linen, patient wear, and staff uniforms to the respective departments in a timely manner.
Monitor linen inventory levels and report shortages, damages, or losses.
Inspect linen for stains, wear, and tear and recommend repair or replacement where necessary.
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the laundry area and equipment.
Ensure proper use and storage of detergents, disinfectants, and other laundry chemicals.
Keep accurate records of laundry volumes, supplies used, and equipment maintenance requirements.
Report equipment faults and coordinate repairs with the maintenance team.
Comply with hospital policies, occupational health and safety standards, and infection prevention and control procedures at all times.
Requirements
Diploma or certificate in a relevant field.
Certificate in Housekeeping, Laundry Operations, Hospitality Management, or a related field is an added advantage.
At least 1â2 years of experience in laundry operations, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
Experience operating industrial laundry equipment is an added advantage.
