- Ensure proper collection, labeling, transportation, processing, storage, and retrieval of study specimens
- Record, verify, and report laboratory results accurately and in a timely manner
- Identify abnormal or critical laboratory results and promptly communicate them to the appropriate study clinicians
- Maintain laboratory equipment, maintenance logs, calibration records, and quality control documentation
- Ensure compliance with laboratory SOPs, biosafety requirements, and quality management standards
- Participate in data cleaning activities and respond to laboratory-related data queries
- Contribute to study reports, presentations, manuscripts, and other laboratory-related study outputs
- Maintain accurate inventories of laboratory supplies and initiate requests for replenishment as needed
- Package and prepare specimens for transportation and shipment to collaborating laboratories within Uganda and internationally, in accordance with applicable regulations and triple-packaging requirements
- Perform routine quality assurance and quality control procedures for all study laboratory tests
- Participate in the development, review, and implementation of laboratory SOPs
- Communicate closely with locally and internationally based investigators through email, meetings, and scheduled conference calls.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor. Duties may be revised to meet the evolving needs of the study, and the staff member will be informed accordingly
Qualifications: - BACHELORS : Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognised institution.
- Registration with the Allied Health Professionals Council of Uganda (AHPCU) with a valid practising licence - Mandatory
Certifications: - GCP, Responsible Conduct of Research(RCR) or HSP certification within the last two years - Mandatory
- Training in Good Clinical Laboratory Practice - Added Advantage
Skill & Experience: - Knowledge of TB and HIV laboratory investigations like IGRA testing, Gene Expert for TB, MTB Culture, - Added Advantage
- Competency computer skills such as MS Excel, MS Access - Added Advantage
- Experience handling and processing samples for storage, and maintaing Sample storage database - Added Advantage
