Mondays Hope Medical Centre is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Technician.
Responsibilities or duties
Collect, process, and analyze biological samples such as blood, urine, and other body fluids. Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment and reagents. Ensure accurate documentation of test results and maintain confidentiality. Perform quality control checks and calibrate laboratory instruments. Follow strict safety and infection control protocols. Assist physicians and healthcare staff with laboratory findings. Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and order consumables as needed. Adhere to all laboratory policies, procedures and standards. Ensure timely and accurate laboratory testing to support patient diagnosis and treatment. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory area. Participate in internal and external quality assurance activities. Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately. Keep up-to-date with advancements in laboratory technology and best practices.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution. Registration and valid practicing license with the Allied Health Professionals Council. Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, safety standards, and quality control. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Dedication and ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines. Proficiency in laboratory software and data management systems.
Experience needed
Minimum of 2 years working experience in a clinical laboratory setting. Prior experience in a busy healthcare environment is preferred.
