The agency manages more than 170 projects in 21 countries. One of these projects is the Junior Programme, a real professional springboard and a promoter of global awareness. It has been running since 2006. Its aim is twofold: to promote sustainable international solidarity by recruiting young European talent and enabling them to develop their skills abroad. Junior Programme With this vision in mind, the Junior Programme defines itself as a "talent spotter" and a "career booster". Through their experience talents develop the competences to actively and sustainably engage in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The Junior Programme aims to make them active and critical global citizens who are committed to the SDGs. The Junior Experts work minimum 1 and maximum 2 years in an Enabel project or in a project of one of the Non-governmental organisations (NGO) that are affiliated with the Junior Programme. The Junior Programme only accepts young people of maximum 30 years old. Despite progress in primary education enrolment, Uganda has not met its goal of ensuring learner competencies in literacy and numeracy. The 2023 National Assessment of Progress in Education showed only 42.7% of Grade 6 learners were grade-level proficient in English literacy. The project aims to support the MoES (Ministry of Education and Sports) and district local governments in improving the foundational literacy and numeracy of P3âP5 learners in government-aided primary schools through UCatchUp, while strengthening government systems to sustain and scale the model. Main Activities of the Project ⢠Capacity building of district-level government structures, including inspectors of schools, education officers, and master trainers ⢠Training and mentoring of school-level implementers, (school leaders, school-based mentors and teachers) by district structures. ⢠Integrating UCatchUp into national government systems. ⢠Evidence gathering to support future further investment. Job description The JE will be instrumental in the design and development of a UCatchUp CPD course for in-service (and in future, pre-service) primary school teachers. This work will directly support the scaling of UCatchUp, helping to build a sustainable framework for UCatchUp teacher training. The JE will play a pivotal role in designing and developing the CPD course content and collaborate with key stakeholders including the MoES Teacher Education Development and Training (TEDT) department and the Uganda National Institute for Teacher Education (UNITE) to align the course with existing standards. Step 5 - Interview with the field project team (online) During this last step, the project team will go a bit deeper into the technical skills and experience for the job of each candidate and check whether you fit in the team. They will take the ultimate decision on which candidate to recruit.
