TENDER REFERENCE NO: 7000019597
Name of Project: Energising Development (EnDev) Uganda
1. Background
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is the German Federal Enterprise for technical cooperation and has been operating in Uganda since 1964 to promote sustainable development on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
Energising Development (EnDev)Â is a global multi-donor partnership implemented in over 20 countries. The programme is funded by the governments of Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, and Switzerland. In Uganda, EnDev is implemented by GIZ and collaborates with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD) to facilitate access to modern energy services for households, social institutions, and MSMEs through market development for solar PV, improved cookstoves (ICS), and higher-tier cooking technologies.
As part of its Productive Use of Energy (PUE) portfolio, EnDev Uganda has supported the development of markets for technologies such as solar irrigation, solar refrigeration, and other enterprise-level solar PV applications. The programme is now expanding its support to underdeveloped solar-powered agro-processing technologies, including solar milling and hulling. To demonstrate their technical and commercial viability, EnDev will establish demonstration sites at selected enterprises across Uganda.
2. Invitation to Bid
GIZ Uganda, through the EnDev programme, invites bids from competent and eligible firms to supply, install, commission, provide user training, and provide after-sales service for solar-powered milling and hulling systems. The systems shall be installed at selected enterprises in Jinja, Mbale, Bugiri, and Lira for demonstration purposes.
