The major role under the Library is information processing (indexing, abstracting, cataloguing, classification, managing electronic libraries, knowledge codification, preservation, and sharing. Each of these roles directly serves the needs of end users. Key Responsibilities - Support with the overall process of library management, both online and physical.
- Acts as the point of contact for all Information requests and ensures that usersâ needs are satisfied.
- Acts as the point person for all information-related issues.
- Helps with the development of strategies for collecting information from customers and employees (surveys and audits) to identify library issues and needs
- Support collaborations and solicitation of online resources through library networks to support user requests.
- Engage and collaborate with stakeholders to identify information management solutions tailored to their needs
- Support the ongoing program of continuous quality assurance on all Information generated within the Institute, and contribute to issues of copyrights, intellectual property rights, and branding
- Liaises with the HOD regarding requirements for the development of additional knowledge-sharing tools
- Liaises with the IT Manager regarding equipment requirements, system maintenance, break-downs and repairs
- Promote the use of online library resources and provide user training on advanced search and retrieval of information
- Support the IDIâs knowledge management activities and promote the knowledge-sharing culture
Academic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Library and Information Science, Information management, Records and archives management, Knowledge management. Library sciences specialization Must have graduated not more than Two years Person Specification - Bachelor's degree in Library and Information Science, Information management, Records and archives management, Knowledge management.
- Must have graduated not more than Two years
- Candidates with a library sciences specialization will be desirable.
- At least 6 or 12 months of hands-on experience in Library management/KM and systems development for libraries, especially in the HIV/AIDS sector, or an internship within the health sector.
- Knowledge of current information technologies and infectious diseases.
- Database management skills and General IT knowledge.
- Attention to detail, especially regarding metadata accuracy.
- Team player and management skills.
- Good communication skills.
