Job Purpose: The IT Officer is responsible for the management, maintenance, and security of all IT infrastructure and equipment within the cluster. The role ensures reliable network connectivity, supports the project's digital data collection tools (in coordination with MEL), and provides technical support to all staff. 2. Key Responsibilities: Network & Infrastructure Management: - Manage and maintain the office network (LAN, Wi-Fi), ensuring reliable internet connectivity.
- Administer servers, firewalls, and other network equipment.
- Ensure the security of IT systems against cyber threats and viruses.
Hardware & Software Support: - Provide technical support to all users regarding hardware (laptops, printers, servers) and software issues.
- Install, configure, and update software applications.
- Manage the inventory of IT equipment, including procurement, maintenance, and disposal.
Data & System Support: - Critical: Support the MEL team in deploying and maintaining digital data collection tools (e.g., Kobo Toolbox, ODK, tablets).
- Ensure the proper backup and recovery of all project data.
- Assist in managing the organization's Management Information Systems (MIS).
Training & Capacity Building: - Train staff on the use of IT systems, software, and data security protocols.
- Create user guides and provide ongoing IT support to field teams.
3. Qualifications & Experience: Education: Bachelorâs degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., Cisco, Microsoft) are an advantage. Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in IT support and network administration. Skills: Strong knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, routers, switches), server administration (Windows/Linux), and hardware troubleshooting. Experience with mobile data collection platforms is mandatory.
