Mission Description
The ICD / Logistics Supervisor is accountable for the comprehensive oversight of daily operations at the Inland Container Depot (ICD) or logistics yard, ensuring the seamless handling, storage, and dispatch of cargo and containers. This leadership role involves strategic coordination of logistics activities, direct supervision of operational teams, and rigorous enforcement of safety, quality, and regulatory standards to drive efficiency and minimize risks. By optimizing resource allocation and process flows, the supervisor contributes to cost-effective operations, customer satisfaction, and compliance with regulations and laws.
3.1 Operational Supervision and Coordination.
Lead and orchestrate daily ICD or yard activities, including container handling, loading, offloading, stacking, and dispatch, develop shift schedules and assign tasks to ensure uninterrupted workflow and alignment with operational timelines.
3.2 Equipment Planning and Allocation.
Strategically plan and allocate heavy equipment such as reach stackers, forklifts, cranes, and trucks; monitor utilization rates, forecast needs based on cargo volume, and coordinate with maintenance teams to prevent downtime.
3.3 Container Movement Monitoring.
Oversee real-time tracking of container movements, ensure accurate documentation, inventory audits, and reconciliation to maintain traceability and prevent losses.
3.4 Compliance Assurance.
Enforce adherence to company policies, operational procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory conduct compliance audits and implement corrective measures as needed.
3.5 Performance Monitoring.
Track key operational metrics against daily/weekly targets, analyze data on throughput, delays, and efficiency using tools like dashboards or spreadsheets, and implement adjustments to enhance productivity.
3.6 Yard Inspections and Maintenance.
Perform regular inspections of the yard to verify container stacking integrity, equipment condition, and safety compliance; identify hazards, enforce housekeeping standards, and report findings for immediate action.
3.7 Issue Reporting and Resolution.
Promptly escalate operational challenges, equipment breakdowns, or delays to the Head of Operations ICD and Container logistics, conduct root cause analyzes and propose actionable recommendations to mitigate future occurrences.
3.8 Yard Layout Optimization.
Assist in designing and refining yard layouts and stacking strategies; utilize space planning software or manual assessments to maximize capacity, improve accessibility, and reduce handling times.
3.9 Any other duties as assigned by management.
Profile
Education: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport and logistics Management, Business Administration, or a related field, CILT or EACFFPC is of great advantage.
Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years in logistics, container yard operations, freight forwarding, or supply chain roles, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
