Key Duties and Responsibilities The teacher will: - Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans and teaching resources.
- Deliver History and Political Education lessons effectively.
- Develop studentsâ knowledge of historical events, political systems, governance and citizenship.
- Encourage critical thinking, analysis and evidence-based discussion.
- Use maps, historical sources, case studies, timelines and other relevant learning resources.
- Conduct continuous assessment, tests and examinations.
- Mark and record studentsâ work and provide appropriate feedback.
- Prepare students for national examinations.
- Provide remedial and enrichment activities.
- Promote responsible citizenship, leadership, integrity and respect for human rights.
- Encourage students to participate in debates, history clubs and civic activities.
- Maintain appropriate academic and departmental records.
- Participate in departmental meetings and curriculum planning.
- Support school assemblies, co-curricular activities and other assigned duties.
- Promote a safe, respectful and inclusive classroom environment.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Head Teacher.
Minimum Qualifications - A recognised Diploma or Degree in Education with History/Political Education or relevant teaching subjects.
- Registration with the relevant education authorities.
Experience - Previous teaching experience at secondary-school level is preferred.
Key Competencies - Strong knowledge of History and Political Education.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Critical-thinking and analytical abilities.
- Strong classroom-management skills.
- Ability to facilitate respectful discussions and debates.
- Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to professional ethics and student safeguarding.
