High Pressure Air Compressor Operator job at Dalilang Foods & Beverages

Dalilang Foods & Beverages is a Ugandan FMCG manufacturer producing packaged snacks, including potato crisps, gonja chips, coated peanuts and peanut butter, alongside spring water, fruit nectars and energy drinks.

Operate and maintain 40 bar high pressure oil free air compressors supplying PET bottle blowing equipment to ensure reliable production continuity.

Deliver end to end technical maintenance, routine inspections, and rapid fault diagnosis on high pressure air systems, air dryers, and pressure vessels.

Ensure safe, compliant utility operations through rigorous isolation controls, condensate management, and proactive preventative maintenance.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain 40 bar high pressure oil free air compressors dedicated to PET bottle blowing lines.
• Execute planned preventive and predictive maintenance schedules, logging condition indicators such as vibration, temperature, oil free air quality, and unusual noise.
• Inspect, monitor, and maintain auxiliary utility equipment including air dryers, filtration units, pressure vessels, and condensate discharge systems.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system faults using technical manuals, engineering drawings, and equipment fault codes.
• Apply strict energy isolation, pressure release, lockout/tagout, and test before touch procedures before carrying out any intrusive maintenance.
• Verify safety interlocks, relief valves, guards, alignments, and operating parameters prior to handing equipment back to operations.
• Coordinate utility shutdowns and equipment restarts closely with production teams to prevent unplanned downtime and service interruptions.
• Maintain complete, traceable records of machine settings, test results, maintenance interventions, and shift handover logs.
• Participate in root cause failure investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring equipment breakdowns.

Education Qualifications & Experience

Education Qualifications

• Diploma, Higher Diploma, or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Mechatronics, Plant Maintenance, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
• National Certificate, Craft Certificate, UBTEB/TVET qualification, or recognized trade apprenticeship in Mechanical Fitting, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Welding and Fabrication, or related mechanical trades.
• Specialist manufacturer training, pressure vessel certification, or relevant statutory technical licences are advantageous.

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating and maintaining high pressure industrial air compressors.
