Key Roles and Responsibilities 1. Sales Growth and Forecasting - Own the annual sales plan, and deliver consistent month-on-month growth in motorcycle sales and revenue.
- Produce an accurate monthly sales forecast so that Assembly, Finance and the Swap Network can plan bike supply, cash flow and swap capacity.
- Track sales against the plan every week, and act early when performance falls behind.
- Protect margin by controlling discounts and promotions and staying within approved pricing.
2. Sales Quality - Make sure every sale meets the agreed rider qualification criteria, working with the Asset Financing (EVAM) team.
- Track how well riders repay after each sale, and use that information to improve targeting, sales scripts and incentives.
- Design sales incentives that reward quality sales, not just volume.
3. Go-to-Market Strategy and Direct Sales - Set and run the go-to-market strategy: target segments, channels, pricing and payment options (with Finance), and launch plans.
- Define the value proposition for each segment, with a clear savings case compared with petrol motorcycles.
- Own direct sales to individual riders across all regions: lead generation, stage activations, test rides, financing applications, handover and follow-up.
- Build rider-financing channels with asset-finance partners, SACCOs and rider associations.
- Grow sales through referrals, rider ambassadors and networks at boda stages.
- Track competitor activity, fuel prices, rider behavior and regulatory changes, and adjust the strategy to match.
4. B2B and Fleet Sales - Build the B2B sales channel from the ground up and own its results.
- Find and win fleet and corporate customers, such as delivery and logistics companies, ride-hailing and courier platforms, fleet owners, NGOs, development programmes and institutions.
- Lead negotiations, proposals and commercial agreements, working with Finance and Legal.
- Manage key accounts to keep customers, win repeat orders and grow each account.
- Build a B2B pipeline with clear conversion and revenue targets.
5. Market Expansion - Own the plan to expand into new regions and towns, such as Jinja, Mbarara, Gulu and Masaka, and into other markets where approved.
- Present a business case to the CEO for each new market, covering demand, rider numbers, competition, swap-network readiness and expected payback.
- Lead each market launch with Operations and the Swap Network team, so that sales teams, swap stations and after-sales service are ready at the same time.
- Review each new market against its launch targets, and recommend whether to scale up, adjust or exit.
6. Marketing Strategy and Brand - Own the marketing strategy, marketing budget and brand positioning.
- Lead the Communications Specialist in planning and running campaigns across field activations, radio, digital and social media, rider referrals and partnerships.
- Develop marketing plans for each segment and each new market launch.
- Measure marketing by leads, conversion, cost per sale and brand reach, and move spend to the channels that perform best.
- Make sure all brand, advertising and promotional activity follows the brand guidelines.
7. Team Growth and Development - Design the team structure needed to meet growth targets, and present a headcount plan to the CEO.
- Recruit and onboard sales agents, supervisors, B2B/key account staff and marketing staff as the business grows, working with People & Culture.
- Train and coach the team on product knowledge, rider financing, field selling, B2B negotiation and customer handling.
- Set clear roles, KPIs and incentive schemes for every team member, and review performance regularly.
- Identify and develop future leaders, and keep a succession plan for key roles.
- Build a culture of integrity, accountability and high performance, and keep good performers by offering clear career paths.
8. Leadership, Alignment and Reporting - Serve as a member of the leadership team and advise the CEO on commercial performance and growth.
- Align sales plans with Assembly, Finance, Asset Financing, Customer Care and the Swap Network, so the company does not sell bikes it cannot deliver, finance or charge.
- Give the CEO a weekly sales update and a monthly commercial report covering sales, pipeline, forecast, cost per sale, sales quality, expansion progress and team performance, with recommendations.
- Provide accurate commercial data for board and investor reporting.
- Develop and retain a high-performing commercial team, achieving 100% KPI compliance across direct reports.
Qualifications & Experience: - Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, Engineering or a related field. An MBA is an advantage.
- At least 8 years of sales and marketing experience, including at least 4 years in a senior commercial leadership role.
- Proven record of growing sales, building and scaling sales teams, and launching in new markets or regions.
- Experience in both direct (B2C) and B2B or fleet sales, including negotiating large commercial deals.
- Experience owning a marketing strategy, budget and brand.
- Experience selling on credit or asset finance, and managing the quality of those sales.
- Experience in motorcycles, automotive, asset financing, battery-as-a-service (BaaS) or FMCG field sales is strongly preferred.
- Hands-on knowledge of the Ugandan boda boda market and how riders finance their bikes.
- Strong analytical, forecasting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Working proficiency in Luganda or another widely spoken local language is an advantage.
- A valid driving permit.
