Manage, control, and develop the Road Freight and CDZ business activities in alignment with the group business strategy and local business environment, delivering maximum profit and optimizing business assets and human resources. Achieve targets for RFR and CDZ as per budgets in the country. Responsibilities or duties Role is key interface between Road Freight & CDZ Departments. Overall Goals / Typical Measures. - Grow Market Share: Drive growth in both RFR and CDZ segments.
- P&L Responsibility: Full P&L responsibility for RFR, ensuring delivery to agreed budget.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry and internal DGF policies and standards for both RFR and CDZ.
- Customer Solutions Development: Participate in the development and implementation of customer solutions for new accounts.
- Resource Management: Ensure optimal resourcing of RFR and CDZ to meet service standards.
- Customer Relationship Management: Visit customers to maintain relationships, research needs, and monitor satisfaction.
- Supplier Management: Maintain relationships with suppliers and manage their performance.
- Profitability Monitoring: Monitor profitability of RFR, customers, and shipments.
- Estimates and RFQs: Oversee and assist with estimates and RFQs/tenders.
- Invoice Processing: Ensure timely processing of invoices in line with DGF financial controls.
- Continuous Improvement: Implement First Choice, Station Improvements, and adherence to quality policies.
- Reporting: Produce weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc reports as required by management.
- Service Level Improvement: Improve service levels, internal KPIs, customer satisfaction, and adherence to SLAs.
- Revenue Growth: Collaborate with sales to grow RFR and CDZ revenue and market share.
- Tariff Management: Own and maintain 'Country ACC tariffs', RFQs/tenders.
- Ensure pricing and cost for CDZ standalone shipments are up to date and market related.
- Ensure daily invoicing is done according to latest CDZ financial guidelines and revenue is not lost to other Products.
- Manage and maintain Customs licenses and Customs deferment bonds.
- Manage & control department costs, file count, productivity and revenue ( EBIT).
- Maintain communication with OFR and AFR for Network shipments, as well as Standalone.
- Establish and maintain relationships with existing customers.
- Support sales and Customer service with technical data.
- Support sales and Customer service with Customer visits.
- Ensure quality of work at all times. Audit entries before submission.
- Maintain a risk register for refunds, bonded cargo and any other CDZ activities that need monitoring on a regular basis to ensure we minimize or eliminate all risk of loss of revenue through mishandling or other. Report any financial risk to Country Manager and CDZ SSA Manager.
- Deploy and maintain department KPIâs which amongst others should include, number of entries per month, number of lines, number of vouchers of correction, refunds, acquittals, etc.
- Manage performance through IKOâs and daily management activities. Give feedback to each team member to ensure constant alignment with Country, Regional and Global goals.
- Keep the team regularly informed of results, productivity and quality of work, as well as all Customer feedback.
- Evaluate training needs and implement in accordance with budget guidelines and Country Manager approval.
- Ensure proper implementation of new business to avoid misunderstandings of the sales promise and Customer requirements. Donât leave any grey areas open to interpretation.
- Understand Customer base who are up trading and who are down trading and why. Ensure regular Customer visits with Customer service representative or other.
- Assist with collection when necessary to avoid Customers exploiting agreed payment terms.
- In conjunction with finance be aware of Customers exceeding their credit limits before submission to Customs or further disbursements of duty and taxes. Follow Country and/or Regional guidelines.
- Be mindful of our service delivery, our Customers, internal and external as well as our staff and ensure CDZ acts in an exemplary manner at all times.
