What we are looking for We are looking for a Head of Credit Operations who will be responsible for developing our credit strategy and managing all credit operations in East Africa. They will ensure operational teams in all markets achieve our objectives and key results, whilst ensuring a great client experience. This position reports to the CEO and works cross functionally to drive success in our core lending business. What does the job involve ⢠Strategy and planning ⢠Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to develop the companyâs strategy and department-level plans for achieving the companyâs vision. ⢠Lead the development and execution of a clear operational strategic plan and budget for all country operations which includes Country Monthly, Quarterly and Annual KPIs. ⢠Build the credit analytics and business intelligence capacity to support the development and execution of the departmentâs operational strategy ⢠Execution and operational management ⢠Oversee the credit department in all current and future countries of operation. ⢠Ensure the timely recruitment of new staff to ensure smooth operations, maximal efficiency, and portfolio growth. ⢠Own operational decisions by taking a data-driven approach to identify innovations or improvements within our credit operations (for example in task prioritization, customer segmentation, role definition, incentive structures, due diligence processes, and collections SOPs). ⢠Initiate experiments, where relevant, to test the impact of new approaches. ⢠Build our management capacity via upskilling and mentorship, and co-develop change management strategies to ensure that new policies and insights are adopted and incorporated into our standard operations and processes across all countries of operation. ⢠Chair Incentive Committee meetings, ensuring performance incentives motivate operational roles in alignment with the strategic objectives ⢠Credit Team Culture ⢠Foster and encourage a culture of âsystems-thinkingâ where individuals can take a step back and identify root cause issues to deliver on our strategy, understand mutual dependency and work better together across teams. ⢠Manage people: articulate clear job descriptions; recruit, onboard and develop talent; manage and assess individual and team performance; and cultivate a culture of ownership, proactivity, accountability, and high performance. ⢠Embody and exemplify our values (Client Success, Teamwork, Doing Whatâs Right, Experimentation, Having Fun, and Resilient Optimism) with every stakeholder, and ensure that the companyâs values are embedded in all decisions and actions. Key Performance Indicators: ⢠Collections ⢠New Client Conversion Rate ⢠Client Retention ⢠Disbursements ⢠Portfolio Growth Qualifications ⢠Masterâs degree in Business Administration or a related field from an accredited institution ⢠Strong knowledge of lending operations, digital credit, or financial services. ⢠6+ years of experience with increasing responsibility, including at least 2 years of strategy and management experience ⢠Experience leading operational strategy in a fast-growth tech company and conducting strategic planning processes, resource allocation and prioritization ⢠Professional experience with business process optimization with concrete examples of measurable improvements (automations, clever simplifications of processes, reduced task completion times, reduced costs).
