Turaco exists to change that. Our mission is to relieve people from the fear of financial shocks. We do it by embedding affordable, simple insurance into the everyday transactions people already make, partnering with banks, MFIs, SACCOs, fintechs, and telcos that serve emerging consumers. Since launching in 2019, Turaco has reached over 7 million customers across Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia, and Pakistan. In 2026, we were ranked 29th on the Financial Times Africa's Fastest Growing Companies list and won the Innovation of the Year Award at the prestigious African Insurance Awards. We are in the claims-paying business, and we take that promise seriously. The Role We are looking for a Head of Bancassurance to own and grow Turaco's banking, microfinance, and SACCO portfolio in Uganda. This is not an account management role. It is a builder role. You will identify, win, and scale high-value bancassurance partnerships across Uganda's financial sector. You will own the full deal cycle from first conversation to live launch, and you will work closely with internal teams to ensure every partnership delivers for our customers. The right person for this role understands the Ugandan financial services landscape intimately, has relationships that open doors, and has a personal track record of closing deals that last. What You Will Do Own Revenue and Pipeline - Take full accountability for hitting quarterly and annual GWP targets across bancassurance partnerships in Uganda.
- Build and manage a qualified pipeline of banks, MFIs, and SACCOs at all times. A qualified opportunity means you have identified a strong champion, confirmed genuine product interest, and verified budget availability.
- Lead the end-to-end deal cycle: origination, pitching, negotiation, closure, and handover to account management.
- Structure every partnership for long-term, scalable revenue, not just a quick launch.
Build the Market - Design and execute a bancassurance go-to-market strategy aligned to Turaco's product capabilities and Uganda's specific market dynamics.
- Identify and prioritize high-potential institutions across banking, microfinance, and the SACCO sector.
- Bring market intelligence back to the product and commercial teams to sharpen pricing, product design, and competitive positioning.
Lead Relationships at the Right Level - Build and maintain senior relationships with C-suite executives, founders, and key regulators across Uganda's financial sector.
- Navigate complex, multi-stakeholder environments to unblock deals and accelerate partnerships.
- Represent Turaco at bancassurance and microinsurance industry forums and association events as a credible, trusted voice.
Drive Partner Performance - Conduct regular business reviews with active partners, covering product performance, SLA adherence, and relationship health.
- Identify and pursue cross-sell and upsell opportunities within existing partner portfolios.
- Drive renewal rates of 90% and above across the bancassurance book.
Maintain Commercial Discipline - Maintain a clean, well-structured pipeline in our CRM with accurate weekly reporting.
- Standardize how opportunities are sourced, tracked, and handed over to the Commercial Division.
- Stay current on the competitive landscape: track competitor products, pricing, and partnerships and share regular intelligence updates with the team.
What Success Looks Like in Year One - A qualified, active pipeline of financial institutions across banking, MFI, and SACCO segments.
- At least 2 to 3 new bancassurance partnerships signed and live.
- Existing partner renewal rate of 90% and above.
- Turaco recognized as the go-to bancassurance partner among Uganda's financial institutions.
Who You Are - You have 7 to 10 years of experience in sales or business development, with a focus on bancassurance, B2B financial services, or insurance distribution in East Africa.
- You know Uganda's financial services ecosystem well: the key banks, MFIs, and SACCOs, how decisions get made, and how to navigate the regulatory environment.
- You have closed complex, multi-stakeholder deals and can hold your own in a room with a CFO, a compliance officer, and a CEO at the same time.
- You are comfortable with technology. Turaco's model is tech-integrated, and you should be able to explain API-driven insurance distribution clearly to a partner who has never encountered it before.
- You have an existing senior network within Uganda's banking or financial services sector.
- You are a builder, not a maintainer. You do not wait for warm introductions.
- You live Turaco's values: pushing boundaries, working with excellence, and profound respect for the individual.
- Minimum qualification: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
Our Culture Turaco is a fast-moving, mission-driven team. We push boundaries, hold ourselves to high standards, and genuinely believe that what we do matters for the people we serve. We are building a team where diverse backgrounds and perspectives make us stronger, and where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. - Take full accountability for hitting quarterly and annual GWP targets across bancassurance partnerships in Uganda.
