JOB DETAILS: Nature and Scope To facilitate a positive environment for the students, staff, and guests of Heritage International School and to ensure the development of their God-given gifts for Christ-like service in the world community through enhanced school facility maintenance, landscaping, and farm animal care and maintenance. Skills Landscaping and Maintenance • Ability to operate various types of power equipment including lawnmowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and other landscaping equipment. • Ability to use hand tools required for landscaping. • Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments. • Extensive knowledge of landscaping techniques and processes. • Excellent time management skills. Farm Animal Care • Basic knowledge of farm animal husbandry, care, and feeding practices. • Ability to monitor animal health and behavior, identify signs of illness, and respond appropriately. • Knowledge of proper handling techniques for small and medium-sized farm animals (e.g., goats, chickens, rabbits). • Ability to clean, maintain, and repair animal enclosures and equipment. • Familiarity with feeding schedules, dietary requirements, and proper storage of feed. • Experience in assisting with breeding, hatching, or caring for young animals is an asset. Professional Responsibilities Landscaping and Grounds Maintenance (50%) • Daily lawn care, including watering, raking, and mowing. • Remove garbage and other debris from outdoor areas. • Install and maintain water fountains, fences, gates, retaining walls, rock gardens, outdoor lighting, and other design features. • Maintain green spaces by weeding, trimming, and pruning. • Apply mulch, fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides. • Prepare soil and plant flowers, bushes, hedges, shrubs, or trees. • Declutter flowerbeds in front of classes and offices. • Maintain off-campus residence gardens. • Perform routine maintenance on power equipment. • Assist with operations during school events. • Perform other related duties as assigned. Farm Animal Maintenance (50%) • Feed and water animals according to their dietary needs. • Clean and maintain animal enclosures, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment. • Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting concerns to the Operations Manager. • Handle routine animal care such as grooming, hoof trimming, or nail clipping as needed. • Assist with breeding programs, caring for young animals, and managing seasonal birthing or hatching processes. • Maintain feed inventory and ensure proper storage to prevent spoilage or contamination. • Build and repair fences, shelters, and other farm infrastructure as needed. • Manage rotational grazing or pasture maintenance to promote animal health and environmental sustainability. • Provide enrichment activities for animals to ensure their well-being. Education and Experience • Previous gardening experience necessary. • Previous experience in animal care or farm work preferred. • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. • On-the-job training offered. Physical Requirements • Prolonged periods walking, standing, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, or kneeling. • Must be physically able to operate power equipment. • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time. • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions. • Comfortable working with animals in close proximity, including feeding, cleaning, and handling.
