The role focuses on visual storytelling that supports MCI's work in media innovation, narrative shaping and local/rural journalism. You will create high-quality visual content that amplifies youth and community stories, strengthens brand presence and makes complex ideas accessible for both digital and community-level audiences in Karamoja and beyond. The Role: Graphics Designer We are looking for a designer who can translate lived realities in Karamoja into visuals that inform, dignify, and move audiences â from social feeds to community events, from reports to campaigns. Key Responsibilities 1. Visual Content Creation - Design graphics, illustrations, infographics, social media visuals, posters, and campaign materials that align with MCI's brand identity
- Create visual assets for news stories, training materials, reports and community outreach activities
- Produce simple motion graphics or short video edits when needed to support storytelling
2. Campaign and Project Visuals - Develop visual concepts and materials for thematic campaigns (e.g., health, climate, youth, culture)
- Design print and digital collateral for workshops, events, exhibitions, and awareness activities in Karamoja
- Ensure all designs are culturally appropriate and effectively communicate with local audiences
3. Brand Consistency - Apply and maintain MCI's visual identity guidelines across all design outputs
- Contribute creative ideas to improve the visual presentation of MCI's work in rural and regional contexts
4. Documentation and Asset Management - Document local stories and activities through photography and visual recording
- Organize and maintain a digital library of design assets and visual materials from Karamoja projects
- Prepare design files for both digital and print production
5. Capacity Building Support - Share basic design skills and visual storytelling techniques with young journalists and apprentices during workshops and daily work
- Provide design feedback and revisions to ensure quality and consistency
