Description
Hima Cement Limited is hiring a Graduate Trainee â Procurement that implements procurement strategies in close cooperation with the Procurement Managers at a local level. The role involves managing the operational and tactical procurement of local goods and services, including sourcing, negotiating, and contracting.

Reporting Line: Procurement Manager
Duration: Full-time Contract
Duty Station: Tororo and Kasese
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Researching new suppliers for low-value spot purchases and presenting them to Procurement Managers for screening.
- Sourcing and comparing prices from several suppliers for all value spot purchases.
- Negotiating prices and delivery dates.
- Checking that goods and services are fit for purpose and meet company requirements prior to order placement.
- Ensuring goods arrive on time and that suppliers are paid promptly.
- Building relationships with low-value spot purchase suppliers and conducting quarterly reviews.
- Monitoring and advising on issues that present risks or opportunities to the business.
- Creating local purchase orders for suppliers, equipment, and services within authorized limits.
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
Technical Competencies
- Bachelorâs (Honours) Degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management or a related qualification from a recognized University.
- Postgraduate qualification in CIPS or equivalent is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 1 yearâs experience in a procurement role (sourcing, operations) with exposure to supply chain management, strategic sourcing, and procurement processes and standards.
- Knowledge of Electronic Procurement and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as SAP is an added advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to work within cross-functional teams.
Profile & Personal Qualities
- Good written and oral communication skills and strong stakeholder management skills.
- High integrity and confidentiality.
- Positive attitude to work in a demanding, challenging, and busy environment.
- Ability to work extended hours when required.
