MMU strives to become an academic Centre of excellence, by recruiting high caliber staff. MMU therefore invites applications from suitably qualified and skilled Ugandans for the following positions: - Job Purpose To provide quality teaching, undertake research, and community engagement to promote Geography. Duties and Responsibilities - Develop, review, and update course materials, lesson plans, and syllabi in line with current approved curriculum.
- Prepare and deliver lectures, seminars, and related learning activities for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Set, invigilate, mark, and assess coursework, tests, and examinations, and provide timely feedback.
- Guide, advise and mentor students on academic progress and performance.
- Conduct original research and publish scholarly work in reputable academic journals, books, or related platforms.
- Disseminate research findings through conferences, seminars, workshops and webinars.
- Supervise student projects, theses, dissertations, internships, fieldwork, and placements.
- Participate in community outreach, serve on committees, and support student outreach programmes.
- Perform any other official duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Person Specifications a) Qualifications - PhD in Geography from a recognized awarding Institution, or on PhD Track.
- Master's Degree in Geography from a recognized awarding Institution.
- An Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree with Education (Majoring in Geography) from a recognized awarding Institution.
b) Experience - Should have at least three (3) years of teaching experience in an institution of Higher Learning.
- Evidence of having published a scientific article in the last two (2) years, will be an added advantage.
c) Competences - Innovative teaching methods.
- Digital Literacy.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Highly adaptable and resilient.
- Teamwork and collaboration ethos.
- Conflict prevention and resolution traits.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Integrity and accountability.
