A successful candidate will have the following: The Gender and Social Behavioural Change Specialist will provide technical leadership to integrate gender, social inclusion, and behaviour change communication (SBCC) across FH Ugandaâs programs. The role will ensure that projects are gender-responsive, socially inclusive, and effective in addressing harmful norms that limit opportunities for women, youth, and vulnerable groups. This specialist will also lead FH Ugandaâs safeguarding agenda, ensuring strong systems, training, and accountability mechanisms that protect children and adults from exploitation, abuse, and harm in all our interventions Experience - Proven experience in designing and implementing gender-transformative and SBCC programs.
- Experience leading safeguarding initiatives in humanitarian and development contexts.
- Strong track record of working with government, civil society, and donor partners.
- Experience of leading, supporting, managing, inspiring and coaching staff with different disciplines and backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and innovative thinking.
- Dynamic and result oriented.
- Leadership and organization skills
- Demonstrated report writing skills
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals is satisfactory
Education/Certifications - Masterâs degree in Gender Studies, Development Studies, Public Health, Social Sciences, or related field.
- At least 5 yearsâ experience in gender equality, social behavior change communication or safeguarding within INGOs or development organizations.
- Strong understanding of gender mainstreaming frameworks, safeguarding standards, and participatory SBCC methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting gender analyses, safeguarding audits, and designing SBCC strategies.
- Excellent facilitation, training, and capacity-building skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
- Commitment to FHâs Heartbeat values and safeguarding standards
