JOB DETAILS: JOB PURPOSE The Fundraising and Development Specialist will lead efforts to increase our funding from a diverse range of donors, including individuals, foundations, and corporate partners. This position requires someone with extensive knowledge of the donor landscape, a proven track record of securing major funding, and the ability to drive strategic fundraising initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess advanced skills in donor stewardship, grant writing, and campaign management, and will be comfortable working at a senior level with the leadership team. This position is open to local and international candidates. MAIN RESPONSIBILITES 1. Fundraising Strategy and Planning: (15%) • Build a deep understanding of Wezesha Impact’s sector and ecosystem, especially key players and stakeholders within the space. • Support the design and execution of a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with Wezesha Impact’s mission and growth objectives. • Support setting of measurable annual and long-term fundraising goals and track progress against these metrics. • Identify and develop new funding streams, including foundation grants, corporate partnerships and individual giving. 2. Fundraising Systems and Process Development: (15%) • Build and optimize robust fundraising systems, tools, and processes to support efficient donor management and reporting. • Implement CRM systems to streamline donor tracking and relationship management. • Develop tailored fundraising campaigns and initiatives that align with Wezesha Impact’s mission and programs. • Stay informed of fundraising trends and best practices to incorporate into Wezesha’s approach. 3. Donor Cultivation and Stewardship: (30%) • Build, nurture, and maintain relationships with existing and prospective donors, funders, and partners. • Provide support on key relationships owned by the leadership team. This includes supporting leadership to prepare for meetings and speaking engagements, ensuring prompt follow-up. • Draft, edit, and project manage frequent and strategic high-quality communications, collaborating with other team members primarily as an editor. • Collaborate with the Head of Partnerships and Development, and the leadership team, to create personalized engagement strategies for major donors and partners. • Organize and oversee compelling donor recognition programs to enhance loyalty and retention. 4. Proposal Development and Grant Management: (30%) • Research and identify grant opportunities that align with Wezesha Impact’s mission. This includes identifying new funding opportunities through calls for proposals and building a network of contacts at key funders. • Lead the development of high-quality compelling grant applications and project manage action items related to Wezesha Impact’s fundraising efforts. • Collaborate with the leadership and management team to support the preparation of high-quality technical and financial progress reports. • Project manage complex due diligence processes with Wezesha Impact’s partners. • Work with the MEAL team to build and manage systems and processes to ensure compliance with complex grant requirements and conditions. This includes monitoring and tracking progress against grant agreement milestones and deliverables. 5. Team Collaboration and Leadership: (10%) • Work closely with the leadership and management teams to align fundraising efforts with organizational priorities. • Operate as one of the critical liaisons between Wezesha Impact’s internal teams and external stakeholders. Build relationships with other Wezesha Impact teams and become an internal "expert" on specific programs, solutions, or aspects of our work. • Work closely with the team to develop and maintain effective communication plans for gathering information needed for reporting and donor materials. • Work with the communications team to create compelling fundraising content (e.g., newsletters, social media, and annual reports) that engages donors and supporters. • Lead and mentor any team members supporting fundraising/development activities, ensuring shared accountability for fundraising goals. • Represent Wezesha Impact at networking events, conferences, and forums to enhance visibility and secure partnerships. DESIRED ATTRIBUTES • Bachelor’s degree in development, international relations, or a related field, with 5+ years of progressive experience. • Self-motivated and skilled in managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and working independently. • Expertise in diverse funding mechanisms, including donor-advised funds, corporate matching, family foundations, and large international initiatives. • Proven ability to manage stakeholders and oversee complex projects from initiation to completion. • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for crafting engaging content tailored to varied audiences. • Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, adept at collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders at all levels. • Outstanding organizational, time management, and prioritization abilities, with excellent project management and relationship-building skills. • Experience in fast-paced, goal-driven environments, demonstrating high integrity and adaptability. • Proficiency in Raiser's Edge or similar fundraising software is preferred Work Hours: 8
