Southgate Industries is a leading fruit processing company, located in Kampala Industrial & Business Park (KIBP Namanve). We process pineapples, mangoes, and bananas into puree, concentrate, and other value-added products.
Job Summary: The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment in the production facility. The role will involve troubleshooting mechanical issues, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring optimal performance of all mechanical systems.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Â Â The Maintenance Technician oversees
- Machine Maintenance
- Equipment Installation
- Safety and Compliance
Duty/Responsibility
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment such as juice extractors, crushers, and conveyor belts.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical breakdowns quickly to minimize downtime.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new mechanical equipment.
- Ensure all mechanical systems comply with safety and performance standards.
- Follow safety procedures during maintenance tasks and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs.
- Work closely with other technicians and production staff to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- At least 2 years of experience in maintenance work, preferably in the food/beverage industry
Educational Requirements:
- Diploma or Advanced Certificate in Mechanical engineering
Additional skills:
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read technical manuals and blueprints.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
