To ensure management gets an accurate Profit & Loss accounts, Balance Sheet, with all control accounts analyzed & reconciled for a proper management decision making. Prepares final accounts for both internal and external audits.
1. JOB DETAILS:
Job Title: Financial Accountant
Reports To: Financial Controller
GL/Treasury/Payables Accountant/ Head cashier/Debt collector

4. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Specify the output required from the job. Identify not more than 7 Key Accountabilities & their performance indicators. NB-Focus on outcomes not tasks
Description of the Accountability
Performance Indicators (How accountability is measured)
Review the various inputs to the General Ledger, debtors and creditors accounts.
Prepare the monthly management accounts and supporting schedules.
Review the various general ledger reconciliation and accounting schedules in liaison with the section supervisors.
Handle all insurance accident claims and settlement.
Prepare annual budgets and final end year accounts.
Liaise with all branch accountants in their day to day financial operations
Verify and approve petty cash and cheque payments.
Resolve internal and external audit issues.
Oversee payments and processing of statutory returns.
Control of all expenses.
Confirm payments through the bank accounts and guarantees.
Coordinate activities of accounts department namely ledger, costing, banks, payroll, credit and debtors section.
Accurate financial statements
Timely management reports

6. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:¬†
Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge:¬†
University degree in Accounting /Finance
Minimum of 5 years working experience in a similar position.
Sound analytical skills
Knowledge of accounting packages/systems.
Behavioural Competencies :¬†
Ability to plan own work effectively and meet deadlines. Contribute to the short term planning of department.
Principle source of operational advice to the team.
Show initiative in taking on greater responsibilities without being asked. Demonstrate persistence in the face of resistance.
