Job Description/Requirements Company description: Pic-Ed is an Education Technology company providing digital courses for Secondary School and Higher Education Students. Industry: E-Learning Office Location: 37 Jinja Road, Kampala, Uganda Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Finance & Banking Trainer to deliver comprehensive training for one or more of the following courses: Fundamentals of Financial Markets & Insurance, Risk Management & Portfolio Management, Insurance Principles and Practices, or Financial Modeling and Investment Evaluation. The trainer will be responsible for conducting interactive sessions, refining and developing curricula, creating assessments, and guiding learners through practical, real-world applications of financial concepts. This role requires a deep understanding of finance, banking, and insurance, combined with strong teaching and mentorship abilities. Job Description: 1. Training Delivery: - Conduct engaging and interactive training sessions online or offline, aligning with course outlines and schedules.
- Facilitate hands-on learning with financial tools (Excel, financial modelling software) and practical case studies.
- Simplify complex financial concepts for diverse learner groups, ensuring understanding of core topics like financial markets, portfolio management, insurance practices, and financial modelling.
2. Curriculum Development and Enhancement: - Review and refine course materials to align with industry standards, market trends, and learner requirements.
- Design new course content, assessments, and projects to ensure practical relevance and industry applicability.
- Create comprehensive session plans, ensuring a balance between theoretical concepts and practical applications.
3. Assessment Design and Evaluation: - Develop quizzes, assignments, and project templates to evaluate participants’ understanding and skills.
- Assess submitted work, providing constructive feedback to support learner improvement.
- Design final projects and practical exams that simulate real-world finance, insurance and banking challenges.
4. Hands-On Project Supervision: - Guide learners through hands-on projects such as financial modelling, portfolio analysis, risk assessment, or insurance policy evaluation.
- Provide step-by-step support in implementing financial tools and strategies, from data setup to final analysis.
- Evaluate and provide actionable feedback on project presentations and solutions.
5. Mentoring and Learner Engagement: - Foster a collaborative learning environment, encouraging active participation and engagement.
- Act as a mentor, addressing individual learner challenges and offering additional resources to reinforce learning.
- Conduct career guidance sessions, highlighting job opportunities and practical applications of course skills.
6. Continuous Improvement and Reporting: - Analyze learner performance and share detailed reports on progress and course effectiveness.
- Provide recommendations for enhancing course content and delivery methods based on learner feedback and industry trends.
- Maintain and share best practices for program delivery and curriculum development.
- Document best practices and share insights to enhance overall program delivery.
- Must be able to work independently without the supervision of a senior person
- Supporting and coordinating with every function in learning and development to complete the task as a whole.
Desired Candidate Profile/ Required Experience & Qualifications: 1. Technical Expertise: - Strong knowledge of financial concepts, markets, and instruments (e.g., stocks, bonds, derivatives, insurance products).
- Proficiency in financial modelling, portfolio management, and risk management tools and techniques.
- Extensive knowledge of Financial Ratios and how to judge a company’s financial health.Â
- Hands-on experience with insurance terminologies, methods, market trends and toolsÂ
- Expertise in using tools like Microsoft Excel (advanced functions), financial modelling software, and insurance evaluation frameworks.
2. Experience: - Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in banking, finance, insurance, or a related domain.
- Proven experience in training delivery, curriculum design, and learner evaluation.
- Hands-on experience in financial modelling, risk assessment, portfolio optimization, or insurance underwriting is preferred.
3. Educational Background: - A degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM, CFP) are an advantage.
4. Soft Skills: - Excellent communication, presentation, and mentorship skills.
- Strong ability to simplify and explain complex financial topics.
- Empathy and adaptability to cater to diverse learner groups.
