The role combines strategic financial planning with operational oversight, requiring a balance of technical expertise, leadership, and collaboration across departments. Key Responsibilities - Strategic Financial Leadership
- Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Provide financial insights to support decision-making by the Management Team and Board.
- Drive initiatives for financial resilience, such as cost optimization and revenue diversification.
- Financial Risk, Governance & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to statutory, donor, and internal financial regulations.
- Oversee audits, financial reporting, and compliance with contractual obligations.
- Operational Excellence
- Implement financial monitoring systems for efficiency and fiscal discipline.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow to maintain financial health.
- Treasury & Asset Management
- Oversee liquidity planning, investments, and statutory compliance (taxes, pensions, etc.).
- Safeguard organizational assets and ensure proper accounting.
- Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentor and lead the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability.
- Collaborate with senior leaders to integrate financial considerations into broader strategy.
Core Competencies & Requirements - Experience: Proven track record in strategic financial leadership, preferably in NGOs or higher education.
- Technical Skills: Expertise in financial systems (e.g., Qdoo/ERP), donor compliance, and risk management.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and teamwork abilities.
- Language: Fluency in English.
Notable Details - Location: Nakwero, Uganda (with national/international travel).
- Probation: 6 months for a 2-year contract or 3 months for a 1-year contract.
