Purpose of the Role. Maintain accurate financial records and manage resources (finances, assets and human capital) of the social enterprises effectively to ensure sustained business continuation. Key Responsibilities: - Financial record-keeping â Maintaining accurate books of accounts, ledgers, and financial transactions in line with company policy.
- Budget preparation and monitoring â Assisting in drafting annual budgets, tracking actual spending against budget, and flagging variances to management.
- Cash flow management for seasonal trading â Managing liquidity to ensure adequate working capital at specific times of year.
- Payroll processing â Preparing and processing staff salaries, statutory deductions (PAYE, NSSF, LST/Insurance), and ensuring timely remittance to relevant authorities.
- Tax compliance â Preparing and filing applicable tax returns (withholding tax, income tax) with the relevant revenue authority and ensuring the company stays compliant.
- Accounts payable and receivable management â Processing supplier invoices, staff imprests/advances, customer billing, and following up on outstanding debts.
- Bank and cash management â Handling petty cash, bank reconciliations, and overseeing company bank accounts, deposits, and withdrawals.
- Procurement and inventory support â Coordinating purchase requisitions, verifying supplier quotations, and maintaining basic inventory or asset registers.
- Asset and logistics administration â Managing company assets e.g. vehicles, motorcycles, weighing scales, storage facilities used in business operations including scheduling their insurances.
- Office administration â Overseeing general office operations such as supplies, utilities, lease/rent management, and vendor contracts.
- HR-related administrative support â Maintaining staff records, contracts, leave schedules, and supporting recruitment.
- Financial reporting and audit support â Preparing periodic financial reports (monthly, seasonally, annual) for management and providing documentation and support during internal or external audits.
- Advise management and directors on resource management and business development.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience. - Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- Between 1-4 years in financial management of private sector businesses.
- Knowledge of accounting software e.g. Quick books will be an added advantage.
- Ability to forecast and analyse market trends.
- Ability to multi-task and direct operations of the social enterprises.
- Ability to ride a motorcycle will be an added advantage.
- Familiarity with Uganda tax requirements, including withholding tax and VAT treatment, will be useful.
