Tugendeâs core asset finance packages include medical insurance, training, safety equipment, and digital credit profiles in addition to affordable asset financing for SMEs. By helping clients grow economically and building digital track records of responsibility, we are creating a long-term ecosystem for MSMEs to grow and thrive. Tugende is tackling the credit gap for small businesses in Africa by enabling informal entrepreneurs to 1) own incomeâgenerating assets, 2) build a verifiable digital credit profile, and 3) earn future growth opportunities through the Tugende digital platform. This platform includes discounts, smartphones, eâcommerce opportunities, and onâdemand credit lines. Tugende has financed 100,000+ clients and has hundreds of employees serving clients across Uganda and Kenya. About the role The Field Technician is responsible for ensuring that Tugende assets are mechanically sound, properly inspected, equipped, tracked, maintained, documented, and ready for timely customer disbursement. In addition to the technical responsibilities, the Field Technician is expected to actively support branch business growth and sales activities. The ideal candidate should therefore be technically competent, customer-focused, commercially aware, and results-driven, with the ability to balance hands-on technical responsibilities with sales and branch support activities. Asset Readiness & Disbursement - Inspect all newly delivered assets, accessories, and equipment to ensure they meet Tugende's quality and mechanical standards before acceptance.
- Receive assets and verify deliveries against delivery notes, confirming quantities, specifications, and condition.
- Report damaged, defective, or incomplete deliveries to the Branch Executive, Inventory Coordinator, and Procurement team for timely resolution.
- Capture all newly received assets and accessories accurately into the ERP system immediately upon receipt.
- Ensure all assets are branded, fitted with required accessories, and stored securely in an organised manner.
- Install, configure, and activate GPS tracking devices before customer disbursement.
- Ensure all assets are accurately captured in the CRM, ERP, and Tugende tracking dashboard before release.
- Pick, pack, and prepare assets and accessories according to approved disbursement schedules.
- Conduct final technical, quality, and safety inspections before asset handover.
- Ensure assets are ready for disbursement within the required turnaround time.
2. Inventory & Warehouse Management - Maintain accurate inventory records for motorcycles, GPS devices, accessories, spare parts, and second-hand assets held at the branch.
- Record all repossessed, returned, and recovered assets in the ERP system.
- Update inventory records with complete asset information, including brand, colour, value, engine number, chassis number, and location.
- Conduct routine physical stock counts and ensure physical inventory matches ERP records.
- Investigate and promptly report inventory discrepancies.
- Ensure warehouse facilities are clean, secure, organised, and compliant with company standards.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify the Inventory Coordinator or Procurement team of replenishment needs.
- Safeguard company assets against loss, theft, misuse, or damage.
3. GPS Installation & Asset Monitoring - Install, configure, activate, and test GPS tracking devices on all applicable assets.
- Ensure customer and company assets remain active and traceable on the Tugende tracking dashboard.
- Troubleshoot GPS faults and coordinate repairs or replacements where necessary.
- Maintain accurate GPS installation, inspection, activation, and maintenance records.
- Support asset recovery initiatives by providing technical tracking support when required.
- Escalate GPS or tracking concerns promptly to the relevant technical team.
4. Documentation, Compliance & After-Sales Support - Ensure delivery notes for assets, accessories, and spare parts are properly completed, signed, scanned, and securely filed.
- Generate ERP picking lists and ensure customer acknowledgement during asset issuance.
- Conduct daily reconciliation between physical inventory, ERP records, and supporting documentation.
- Perform inspections before repairs or servicing and accurately record findings in the CRM.
- Maintain up-to-date maintenance and servicing trackers for customer and company assets.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and servicing to ensure assets remain in good working condition.
- Provide customers with technical advice on asset care, maintenance, servicing, and GPS functionality.
- Respond to and resolve technical customer queries within the required turnaround time.
- Ensure all servicing and maintenance activities comply with Tugende standards and are accurately documented.
5. Sales, Business Growth & Branch Support - Support the branch in achieving allocated monthly sales and disbursement targets.
- Participate actively in lead generation, customer acquisition, product promotion, and conversion activities.
- Identify and refer potential customers and business opportunities to the relevant sales team.
- Leverage customer interactions, technical inspections, after-sales engagements, and field activities to identify sales opportunities.
- Support sales teams with technical information and product demonstrations where required.
- Participate in branch sales drives, activations, campaigns, community outreach, and other business development activities.
- Follow up on assigned leads and prospective customers as required.
- Support the branch in converting qualified prospects into customers.
- Work closely with Sales, Account Management, Recovery, and other branch teams to improve customer experience and business performance.
- Contribute ideas and initiatives that improve branch sales, customer acquisition, asset readiness, and operational efficiency.
- Undertake additional technical, sales, or operational assignments delegated by the Branch Executive in support of business growth and customer service.
Qualification & Experience, Skills & Competencies required Minimum Qualifications and Experience - Diploma in Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Relevant practical experience in motorcycle or motor vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Experience in asset inspection, maintenance, workshop operations, inventory management, or a related field will be an added advantage.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to work with digital systems, ERP and CRM platforms.
- Ability to accurately maintain technical, inventory, and asset records.
- Experience in sales, customer service, field operations, or business development will be an added advantage.
