You will be working closely with farmers and farmer groups and you will have a real and exciting opportunity to improve the livelihoods of those around you through providing trainings and best practice guidance for coffee farming activities. The implementation of agronomy projects such as shade tree distribution, demo farm monitoring and farmer trainings will fall under your responsibility. Key Areas of Responsibility - Implementation and monitoring of agronomy field projects related shade tree planting, fertilizer projects, farmer trainings, demo garden R&D and certification preparation.
- Planning of different agronomy projects in the field together with the Project Manager.
- Supporting farmer groups, cooperatives and individuals on GAPs. ⢠Monitor implementation of projects done by third parties such as NGOs, service providers or other stakeholders.
- Report on narratives, KPIs and budgets to Project Manager and other stakeholders ⢠Maintain relationships with our farmers, farmer groups and project partners.
Required Knowledge/Experience - At least bachelor's degree in agriculture (crop production) or Agroforestry, or related field from a recognized institute of learning.
- 5 years of experience in Agronomy/Agroforestry projects with an Agribusiness company.
- Mandatory knowledge and experience in implementing certification schemes (4C, Organic and/or RFA).
- Experience in planning, organizing, and conducting farmer training
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a passion for agriculture and coffee.
- Excellent reporting and planning skills, ability to multitask and plan work efficiently
- Proficiency in MS Excel, with knowledge of data collection tools like CropIn, ODK, or Kobo desirable.
- Fluency in Luganda and English (verbal and writing).
- Strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of the area of operation is a plus.
- Motorcycle riding ability with a valid license mandatory
