On behalf of our client Namekara Mining Company Ltd, we are looking for 4 competent, skilled, and experienced FABRICATORSâ to work in Manafwa, Eastern Uganda. A mine located in Manafwa District, Eastern Uganda seeks to engage the services of an experienced hands-on Fabricator/Fitter who skilfully creates, aligns components for welding, assembles, and repairs structural components from metals or various materials, with a strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. He will work with the projects team of fitters/fabricators, welders, assistant fabricators/fitters, assistant welders, and engineers and the project manager. The job and person specifications are provided below. Responsibilities or duties - Interpret blueprints/technical drawings and schematics to determine specifications and fabrication requirements, aligning components for welding and adhering to safety regulations.
- Properly and safely use and operate various machine/power tools applied in fabrication and fitting work.
- Creating, assembling and repairing components and structures from various materials, using technical skills, machinery, and hand tools to meet precise specifications and quality standards.
- Measuring, marking, cutting, trimming, shaping and assembling materials like metal plastics or composites using technical skills, hand tools and power tools.
- Inspecting and testing finished products/structural components to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications, including checking for defects and structural integrity.
- Joining components through welding, riveting, bolting or other fastening techniques.
- Move heavy structural components, tools and equipment.
- Maintaining equipment and work environment, performing regular checks to ensure operational efficiency and safety compliance.
- Collaborating with engineers, project managers and team members to complete projects on schedule.
- Use and operate specialized equipment and power tools to fabricate and fit structural components.
- Maintain a safe work environment, housekeeping, and safety on machines.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills) - Technical aptitude and understanding of fabrication methods and techniques
- Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks and structure the workday based on deadlines and importance.
- Proficiency with tools and machinery, including welding equipment, specialized machines, and hand tools.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions accurately
- Physical stamina and dexterity, unrestricted ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, squat, lift, push, pull, climb and lie on the back in a horizontal position for prolonged periods, including good eyesight and color vision for precise work.
- Ability to work dependently, without direct supervision.
- Ability to promptly communicate with supervisors on any flaws in equipment and to work and communicate well with team members, and other company employees.
- Safety minded professional who demonstrates good performance, regular and timely attendance.
- Ability to conform to and maintain Namekara Mine safety standards and all other company or state rules and regulations.
- Ability to maintain a clean and safe working environment per company standards, adhere to SOPs and take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.
- Understanding of workplace accident prevention strategies and the proper use of personal protective equipment(PPE), such as welding hoods and safety goggles.
- Accountability for inspection and the safe keeping of tools.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Aptitude in materials science, engineering, or metallurgy is advantageous.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends/holidays as maybe required.
Experience needed - ± 3 years previous experience as a fabricator/fitter.
- Previous experience working in environments similar to mines is preferred.
- Demonstrable knowledge or acquisition of transferable skills and knowledge of fabrication/fitting methods and techniques learned from previous positions.
