The key purpose of this role is to drive sustainable sorghum production within the Dodoma region by supporting farmers to achieve optimal yields, quality, and supply targets aligned with the companyâs sourcing mandate. Key Roles and Responsibilities: - Ensure timely mobilization, recruitment, and registration of sorghum farmers within the assigned region
- Ensure that land preparation, planting, weeding, and harvesting activities are carried out on time and in accordance with recommended agronomic practices
- Ensure soil fertility, moisture conservation, and crop rotation practices are implemented by farmers
- Ensure that only certified sorghum seed supplied is planted at the correct seed rate
- Identify and verify the acreage and corresponding input requirements for the area of operation
- Ensure correct and timely application of herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides at recommended rates
- Monitor the crop throughout the entire growth cycle and provide technical guidance
- Identify any abnormalities such as pest infestations or disease outbreaks and advise farmers on appropriate corrective measures
- Promote adoption of mechanization including the use of planters, threshers, and other relevant equipment
- Disseminate new and improved farming technologies and best practices to farmers
- Assist in the recovery of input costs advanced to farmers
- Coach and support farmers to manage farming activities as profitable business enterprises
- Maintain an accurate database of seed distribution, seed uptake, planted acreage, and crop yield
- Prepare and submit timely monthly reports, including sustainability-related activities

Minimum Requirements: - Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Agronomy or related field
- Minimum 2 yearsâ experience in an agronomy or extension environment
- Experience working with smallholder and commercial farmers
- Knowledge of sorghum production systems is an added advantage
- Valid driverâs license
- Fluency in English (Swahili is an added advantage)
