National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC)
Responsibilities or duties
1) Ensures reliable water supply and distribution of water to NWSC customers.
2) Ensures that all unreported and hidden leakages in the network are discovered and repaired.
3) Monitor workmanship and accountability of funds for new connection trenching, proper use and accountability of materials, verification of capital works, assets renewal and replacement,
4) Coordinates and monitors the activities of leak repairs on the network in order to minimize water losses.
5) Ensures that customer complaints of technical nature are attended to within hours and to the customerâs satisfaction.
6) Ensure network expansion and extension are implemented to achieve water for all to the customers.
7) Implement new connection policy to serve all customers and increase on customer connections.
8) Implement Area Specific Strategies for the Management of Non-Revenue Water
9) Support and ensure set technical targets are achieved within the set period
10) Respond to audit queries and come up with measures to reduce them.
11) Investigates all malpractices on water network and ensures that all water connection conform to the procedures and standard laid down.
12) Prepares relevant reports on routine basis regarding network activities, plans and manages the performance and development of staff under his/her supervision so as to improve their productivity.
13) Any other duties, which may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
1) Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree in Building & Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering OR any other Relevant Degree from a recognized University/Institution.
- Computer skills in MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-Project and internet applications
Experience needed
1) Experience and Age
- At least one (1) year relevant working experience
- Age Limit: Below 30 years of age
SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
- This is a field based job and the candidate will be required to move extensively in the field
- Must be able to work for long hours in the field and can be called upon at any time and at odd hours to respond to field tasks.
- Must be able to ride a motorcycle in the field.
- Self-drive and resilience and able to work with minimum supervision
- Have enthusiasm and positive energy
- Ability to build and sustain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to work with a team of multi-disciplinary professionals
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
