Duties and Responsibilities - Assist in maintaining the electrical, sewage treatment, lube oil, bilge and oily water separation systems of the vessel.
- Assist with the maintenance of lifeboats
- Assist with basic maintenance activities involving the pumps, turbines, distilling plants and condensers.
- Assist in maintaining all moving parts of deck machinery
- Assist in ensuring that the engineering room maintains a high level of readiness in the event of a system failure
Qualifications and Experience At least Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent and the following maritime training; - National Certificate of Competence Reg I/2, III/5
- Basic Safety Training VI/1 (Achieved within previous five (5) years)
- Medical fitness I/9
- Training onboard
Competences - Age: be not less than 18 years of age.
- Meet the requirements for certification as a rating forming part of an engine watch.
- Seagoing service: have completed 12 months approved seagoing service in the deck department, or six months and completed approved training.
- Education & training: onboard training documented in a training book or approved training ashore with a minimum of 12 months sea service.
- Competence: meet the standard of competence specified in section A-III/5.
