UEDCL owns the 33KV and below voltage electricity distribution networks. The company sales and distributes electricity in Uganda as per ERA License issued on 31 December 2024 covering over 135 political districts, operates a modern pole plant at Lugogo, and executes key rural electrification schemes on behalf of the Government of Uganda. UEDCL is seeking to recruit qualified, competent and highly motivated Ugandans to fill the following positions; Job Purpose To identify, analyze, and reduce energy losses within the designated area by implementing energy loss reduction strategies, improving network efficiency, and promoting effective monitoring of electrical usage. The Energy Loss Reduction Officer is responsible for ensuring that energy theft, system inefficiencies, and technical losses are minimized, contributing to the company's operational cost- efficiency and sustainability. Impact The role minimizes energy losses, ensures better efficiency, and improves revenue generation from energy distribution. Effective energy loss reduction not only boosts the company's financial performance but also contributes to sustainability goals, compliance with regulatory standards, and customer satisfaction through fair billing practices. The role helps maintain the integrity of the electricity distribution system and ensures that customers are charged accurately based on actual consumption. Key Result Areas - Monitor and analyze energy distribution to identify areas of energy losses, including technical and non-technical losses (e.g., theft, faulty meters, system inefficiencies)
- Use advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), load data analysis, and other technologies to detect and assess energy loss in the distribution network.
- Implement strategies to reduce energy losses in the network, including addressing energy theft, faulty infrastructure, and inaccurate metering.
- Collaborate with technical teams to ensure that network maintenance and upgrades are focused on reducing energy losses.
- Maintain accurate records of energy loss data, including causes, areas of occurrence, and reduction measures implemented.
- Provider regular reports to the Senior Energy Loss Reduction Officer on loss statistics, action taken, and progress toward loss reduction targets.
- Work with customers in the area to educate them about energy conservation practices and the importance of accurate metering.
- Investigate customer complaints related to high energy consumption and ensure accurate billing through the identification and correction of possible energy losses
- Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and technical teams to address energy loss hotspots and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with the Revenue Protection Unit to identify and prevent energy theft through field inspections and audits.
- Ensure that all activities related to energy loss reduction are in compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Stay updated with the latest technologies and best practices in energy loss management to continuously improve processes.
Expected Output - Reduction in overall energy losses, contributing to improved revenue collection and better cost-efficiency for the company.

Person Specifications Academic Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Energy Management, Environmental Science or a related field.
Experience - 4 years of experience in energy loss reduction, electrical engineering, or utility management, preferably within the electricity distribution or power sector
Competencies - Ability to analyze data, detect patterns of energy loss, and propose solutions to address inefficiencies
- Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems, metering technologies, and energy loss sources
- Proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing solutions to reduce energy loss
- Careful and accurate monitoring of energy usage and system performance to detect and address losses
- Ability to effectively communicate findings, reports, and strategies to management, technical teams, and customers
