AVSI is an international NGO with headquarters in Italy, which has been active in Uganda since 1984. Its current activities are focused in the areas of education, health, livelihoods, and protection, nutrition and refugee programs in Uganda.
Job Summary: Â Â The main duty of Education Specialist is to build a capacity building system that enables the existing and incoming LGIHE staff thrive and flourish on the work.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Â Responsibilities of the Education Specialist:
- Enhance capacity building and organisational systems to guide institute in the daily operations to ensure quality delivery in all interventions.
- Provide lead support in the development and implementation of capacity building programs for all education officers, including orientation of the new staff;
- Provide support for material development for academic courses;
- Participate in supervision of students’ research;
- Participate in academic and professional research as may be required;
- Provide support in expression of interest, concept notes, proposals for new projects and sponsors in the fields of education, child protection, human rights and others.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Educational background: Master degree in Education or PHD (Arts and Humanity subjects preferred)
- Work experiences: at least 10 years teaching experience in primary or secondary schools (or at university level).
- Language: Fluent written and spoken English is a must.
- Candidates should be available to travel often in country and in other African countries.
