About Organisation:
EMERGENCY Life Support for Civilian War Victims (EMERGENCY) is an independent Italian organization established in 1994 to offer high quality, free medical and surgical care to victims of war, landmines and poverty. It promotes a culture of peace, solidarity and respect for human rights. Since April 2021, in partnership with Uganda Ministry of Health, EMERGENCY has been running the Children’s Surgical Hospital in Entebbe, a specialized pediatric surgical center, which offers high quality health services completely free of charge.
Job Summary: Â Â Coordinate, supervise, and support the administrative team, managing tasks and implementing procedures and processes in collaboration with other departments, the Country Director, and HQ.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Â Â The main responsibilities and tasks are:
- Ensure the proper management of administrative team and that administration procedures are implemented as outlined in EMERGENCY guidelines and protocols;
- Ensure the proper management of the project’s administrative and financial documents;
- Ensure the proper management of cash funds, bank accounts, and monthly reconciliation;
- Ensure the proper administrative management of national staff (e.g.: payslip);
- Prepare monthly reports (cash flow, reporting files, etc.) and submit them to HQ on time, always highlighting any relevant issues;
- Coordinate and support internal and external financial audits;
- Ensure compliance with local laws and taxes;
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Degree in Economics, Political Science, or International Relations;
- At least 3 years of experience in the role, gained in profit or non-profit organizational contexts;
- Preferable knowledge of the funding lines and procedures of major institutional donors;
- Experience in maintaining the cashbook;
- Experience in managing receipts and payments;
- Experience in reconciling bank and cash accounts.
Working Conditions
- Contract of employment: 12 months contract (6 months probation period) with possibility of renewal;
- Salary range: from 3,000,000.0 UGX to 3,960,000.0 UGX
- Social benefits: GPA, National Social Insurance, Health Insurance, Housing and Transport allowance
- Leaves: 21 paid leave days and additional leave types
- Duty station: Entebbe
- Starting date: as soon as possible.
