IsraAID responds to emergencies and helps communities affected by crises rebuild their lives and their futures together. From hurricanes to refugee crises to global pandemics, we mobilize quickly and collaborate with communities at the deepest level, accompanying the process of becoming self-reliant in the ability to prepare and respond to emergencies and crises and return to adaptive functioning. In Uganda, we support the recovery and restoration of people affected by humanitarian crises and to cultivate and nurture resilience and build agency while establishing systems and partnerships to reduce the risk of future disasters. We work in 3 geographical locations in Uganda. In Northwestern Uganda in the Palorinya refugee settlement and Southwestern Uganda in the Nakivale Settlement and Nyakabande Transit centre. About the Position: The purpose of this position is to support the implementation and smooth transportation of all IsraAID activities associated with programs in Nakivale, Uganda. Duties and Responsibilities: Detailed responsibilities: - Ensuring the safe driving of the IsraAID vehicle, and the transportation of staff, guests and assets in accordance with the organization's driver and vehicle safety policy and procedures.
- Ensuring cleaning and proper maintenance of vehicles in compliance with the Driverâs handbook and safe driving standards.
- Ensuring the vehicle is fueled on time for trips and proper management of the fuel supply for the vehicle.
- Ensuring that adequate and current information on the destination and routing is gathered before departure.
- Ensuring the vehicle is parked safely and in a secure area.
- Maintain a vehicle logbook for all movements of the vehicles whilst in use.
- Reporting any accidents, injuries, and vehicle damage to the Logistics and Procurement Officer
- Assist in the loading and offloading of the vehicle when required.
- Professional liaison with staff during the course of employment.
- Receive, verify, and deliver transported items, ensuring accurate and complete documentation is maintained
- Perform other duties as assigned. The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.
Essential skills, knowledge, and competencies Requirements The successful Candidate is required to meet the following criteria: - Must be a Ugandan National
- Possess Secondary Education (UACE).
- Minimum of three (3) yearsâ experience in a similar role.
- Previous experience in the humanitarian sector.
- Possess a valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for class(es) of vehicle(s) the officer is required to driver (preferably DL, C1 & C)
- Defensive driving skills and a defensive driving certificate.
- Clean driving record and safe driving practices.
SKILLS - Excellent navigation skills and proficiency in using navigation applications to find delivery locations.
- Time management and organisational skills
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
