Ndejje University is private, multi –campus, Christian university in Uganda. Established in 1992, Ndejje University is the oldest private university and the fastest growing in Uganda. In 1995 the university gained its status under the ownership of six church of Uganda dioceses in Buganda Region in what is known as “Ndejje university Foundation consortium”. The consortium is registered as Company limited by Guarantee, not having share capital.

Job Summary:   Ndejje University is seeking to recruit a competent, highly motivated, innovative, visionary and committed individual to fill the position of Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs (DVC AA). This is a senior position within the University’s Organisation structure. The DVC AA shall assist the Vice Chancellor to oversee and supervise all matters of the University concerning planning, administration and organization of all academic affairs including admission, undergraduate and post graduate studies, research, innovation and publications. The DVC AA shall hold office for a term of five (5) years that may be renewed for only one more term subject to conduct and performance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist the Vice-Chancellor in the performance of her functions focusing on the Academic Affairs of the University.
• In the absence of the Vice-Chancellor perform the functions of Vice-Chancellor.
• Initiate, obtain approval of and promote policies, plans and programmes that enhance the academic and professional excellence of the University.
• Oversee the development, implementation and review of the policy framework for monitoring the quality, standards and management of the University’s academic programmes.
• Establish systems for the planning, development and review of undergraduate, postgraduate, research programmes and any other academic programmes of the University.
• Oversee the selection, admission, and progress of students.
• Initiate and coordinate the development and review of curricula for academic programmes offered at the University.
• Monitor compliance in setting, administering, and grading all assessments in accordance with the established regulations.
• Establish systems for students’ timely completion of academic programmes.
• Chair meetings of the Sub-committees of Senate: Admissions, Awards and Ceremonies; the Boards of Graduate Training, Research, and Innovation, Quality Assurance and any other committees that may be created by the University Council and assigned to the DVC AA.
• Promote partnerships and networking for academic growth and development in the University.
• Set performance targets, supervise, mentor, train and appraise all direct reports.
• Perform such other functions that may be assigned by the Vice-Chancellor or the University Council.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:   The prospective candidate must;

• Have a PhD from a recognized university or institution of higher learning.
• Be at least at the rank of an Associate Professor in a higher institution of learning (added advantage).
• Have at least ten (10) years of proven working experience in teaching and learning, research and innovation, community outreach, leadership and administration.
• Have at least three (3) years of extensive knowledge and experience at the level of a Head of Department, Faculty Dean, Director or Principal or Deputy Director in a university/college and/or research institution.
• Have been at least a member of a University Senate/Council or equivalent body in a reputable institution of higher learning.
• Have demonstrable academic leadership through publication and research output.
• Be a mature and practicing Christian who subscribes to the University’s Core values and Philosophy.
• Have a demonstrable excellent track record of high ethical standards and professionalism.
• Be between 45-60 years of age at the time of application.
