This role is responsible for developing and executing strategies to identify, engage, and win new business opportunities, building a robust sales pipeline, and ensuring the team consistently exceeds ambitious growth targets. The ideal candidate will combine strategic leadership, deep knowledge of SaaS enterprise sales, and the ability to coach high-performing teams to success. They will operate as a key regional leader, aligning sales strategy with organizational goals and fostering strong relationships across stakeholders and clients. Key Responsibilities New Business Acquisition - Lead, coach, and inspire a team of New Business Executives to achieve and exceed new client acquisition targets.
- Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to identify and secure new enterprise clients for SaaS solutions.
- Drive proactive prospecting, networking, and relationship-building activities to generate high-quality leads and opportunities.
- Oversee the end-to-end sales cycle, including prospecting, needs analysis, solution presentation, deal structuring, and contract negotiation.
- Ensure accurate sales forecasting and pipeline management using Salesforce or equivalent CRM tools.
Team Leadership & Development - Provide hands-on leadership to the New Business team, setting clear expectations and accountability for performance.
- Embed best-practice sales methodologies, ensuring consistent execution across all sales stages.
- Monitor team activity and pipeline health, using data to coach, intervene, and drive continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular pipeline reviews, deal clinics, and performance check-ins to maintain high standards.
- Foster a culture of high performance, discipline, and continuous learning, providing ongoing coaching and professional development.
Market & Industry Engagement - Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to inform sales strategies.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to build brand awareness and generate new business leads.
- Build and leverage a strong network of decision-makers and influencers within target industries.
Qualifications & Experience - Bachelorâs degree (NQF 7) in IT, Engineering, Commerce, or related field; MBA is advantageous.
- 10+ years of enterprise sales experience, with at least 5 years in leadership roles focused on new business development or customer acquisition in SaaS.
- Proven track record of building and managing high-performing sales teams.
- Strong knowledge of SaaS enterprise sales cycles and methodologies.
- Hands-on experience using Salesforce for sales management, forecasting, and pipeline monitoring.
- Established network of corporate decision-makers in East and Southern Africa.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Strong business acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to develop and execute regional sales strategies.
