The position, located in Jinja, Uganda, requires travel to the areas where Water Missionâs Uganda program operates, including West Nile, to the United States, and to Water Mission training and events in other locations in East Africa. As a Leader, the Country Director is responsible for promoting accuracy, encouraging learning from challenges, and empowering staff to consistently deliver solutions aligned with Water Missionâs mission, vision, values, and standards. The position supervises: Lead Engineer, Community Development Manager, Project Manager, Professionalized Services Manager, Regional Manager, and Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Manager. Duties and Responsibilities - Exemplify servant leadership while upholding the mission, vision, values (love, excellence, and integrity), and standards of Water Mission in all aspects of program leadership.
- Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, donors, beneficiaries, volunteers, and partner organizations.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with Ugandan staff and Water Mission leadership.
- Track and report on country program operational performance against the approved ministry tactical plan and budget.
- Uphold Water Missionâs quality standards in the execution of all project activities.
- Ensure that Water Mission project management and enterprise accounting systems are accurate and up to date with operational and project activities.
- Manage employee relations issues (biblical discipline and performance improvement) and ensure personnel management practices are consistent with Water Mission standards.
- Identify staff knowledge, skill, and ability gaps and plan employee training activities as required to improve employee performance.
- Proactively engage with government at all levels and other organizations in the WASH sector to advance our mission and vision and evaluate people and organizations for potential ministry partnerships.
- Contribute to the development of the Uganda program strategy.
- Oversee preparation of written budgets, program opportunity, and cost estimates.
- Provide regular country program communication updates to Regional staff and Water Mission Headquarters regarding administrative, financial, and programmatic updates/needs.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to Water Mission staff, the Uganda Program Board of Directors, partners, volunteers, and donors as needed.
- Develop and retain talented, mission-driven employees.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience - Personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Alignment with Water Missionâs Statement of Faith and core values of Love, Excellence, and Integrity.
- Bachelorâs degree in a relevant field, i.e., Community Development, Engineering.
- A masterâs degree is an added advantage.
- Minimum experience of eight years in WASH INGO leadership.
- Proven experience in strategic planning operations.
- Knowledge of the general functioning of the WASH sector environment and operations.
- Understanding of the relevant government and related industry regulatory environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to plan and organize the organization's strategy for 3 â 5 years.
- Ability to motivate and inspire others.
- Ability to think critically and oversee projects with excellence.
- Comprehensive computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office software: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to organize personal workload and achieve on-time results.
- Strong work ethic.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to fifty percent (50%) of the time to areas where Water Missionâs Uganda program operates.
