This includes managing the kitchen inventory, ensuring food safety standards are maintained, and occasionally catering for special dietary requirements and events. Duties and responsibilities - Plan and prepare daily meals for crew, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
- Manage all aspects of kitchen operations including inventory, equipment, and cleanliness
- Ensure strict adherence to maritime food safety and sanitation standards.
- Work closely with the catering staff and management to order food supplies.
- Handle food budgeting, ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Continuously improve and innovate on menu items based on crew feedback and seasonal availability of ingredients.
- Provide special dietary meals as required by crew members.
Qualifications and Experience - Must have professional culinary training or equivalent experience.
- Proven work experience as a cook or chef, preferably in the maritime industry.
- Familiarity with various cooking methods, ingredients, and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of sanitation regulations and safety standards.
- Excellent time management and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Valid health and food handling certificates.
Competences - Ability to work effectively with other officers and crew members and foster teamwork
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with crew, providing instructions, and resolving issues
- Planning, organizing and coordinating.
- Firefighting skills.
- Basic First Aid
